Our Wines
The wines of Pietranera, produced by the homonymous vineyards that lie on the south-east slope of Montalcino, express the typical characteristics of the terroir, marly and of volcanic origin, to which they belong.
The Brunello of Montalcino Pietranera is ample and broad, with an intense ruby-red colour and a tendency to garnet red with the ageing. On the nose it presents a wide range of aromas among which fruit and spicy hints, besides some notes of cacao and chocolate in the best vintages. It has a supple tannic structure, and stands out for its elegance and the long finish.
The Brunello Riserva Pietranera is a wine in which structure, variety of aromas and great longevity are admirably composed and balanced. It is produced only for the best vintages and by the vineyard whose grapes have the highest acidity content, the one called “Vigna della Sughera” after a nearby lofty and seven-hundred-year old oak tree which is at present protected by the State.
Derived from the grapes of the youngest vineyards, the Rosso di Montalcino Pietranera shows an elegant bouquet of violet and fresh fruit, and has a good structure of melting and filigree tannins.
Wines of Pietranera are therefore particularly precious, like their labels, made in accordance with an old (and almost unusual nowadays) technique that uses a special gold powder to create the decoration in relief that stands out in all the labels of our products, Grappa and IGT included.
Art lovers would eventually appreciate the fact that every year these labels represent the works of an artist dear to the firm in order to support and spread around the world our love for contemporary art as well. Pictures represented on the labels are admirable in the art gallery of the firm.
